Yellow Candle 2024 has now launched! This annual initiative, which honours those whose lives were tragically lost in the Holocaust, will see thousands of Yellow Candles distributed ahead of Yom HaShoah, beginning on the evening Sunday 5th May.
It is crucial that we come together as a community to remember the individuals who perished in the Holocaust. By lighting Yellow Candles, we can create a modern-day collective communal memorial, and ensure we Never Forget.
Each Yellow Candle includes a biographical card providing key information about a person who lost their life in the Holocaust, as well as two dwarf Sunflower Seeds for each empty Yellow Candle tin. This symbolic gesture represents 'Remembrance to Renewal', Planting seeds for the future while honouring the past
Maccabi GB will be charging £3.50 for each Yellow Candle, plus £2.25 in postage and packaging. Please purchase your Yellow Candle here.
Betty Messenger Sports and Community Hall
We are delighted to share that our hall is continually being used for social events throughout the Community. Here's what's happening:
Junior Table Tennis on Tuesdays: Every Tuesday evening, juniors under the age of 18 gather for social table tennis sessions. It's a great way for young enthusiasts to sharpen their skills while having fun.
Open Maccabi GB Matches on Wednesdays: Wednesday evenings are reserved for home table tennis matches for our Open Maccabi GB teams that play in the Wembley & Harrow League.
Community Gatherings & Outside Hires: Other outside rentals are a Romanian Community Group that bring their families to our hall for a weekly evening of fun and entertainment that they put on themselves.
We also have the facility to hold children’s parties and other activities for up to 120 people, making it the perfect space for memorable events.
For more information on any of these events or to inquire about bookings, please contact us at janice@maccabigb.org. We look forward to welcoming you to our hall!
