The Tackling Antisemitism in Sport project has started the year with momentum, resuming its work after the winter break. We’ve delivered impactful workshops for various club staff, including EDI leads, academy players, and other key personnel.
Our first workshops were held at Huddersfield Town, where 100 participants attended three sessions—one for club staff, including player care leads, heads of safety and stewarding, and representatives from marketing and social media teams. We also ran workshops for B-team, U18 scholars, and academy players aged 13-16. The sessions were highly praised, with Huddersfield's Education and Welfare Lead noting “very good engagement” from both players and staff.
We made significant progress in our goal to train a representative from every Premier League club, with workshops attended by representatives from Aston Villa, Wolves, Nottingham Forest, and Leicester City, hosted by Nottingham Forest’s EDI Lead. This series of workshops also included sessions with Nottingham Forest’s U18 scholars, U15 academy players, and Btech students.
Additionally, we delivered workshops for U18 academy players and staff at Fulham and Cambridge United, as well as for staff and board members at Surrey County Football Association.
Notable moments from December and January include:
Being featured in the Nottingham Forest matchday programme for their game against Southampton on 22nd January.
Supporting Wolves’ Chanukah message on social media, which was voted “the most informative across the Premier League.”
Serving as the keynote speaker at the newly-founded Fulham Jewish Supporters’ Group Chanukah celebration.
Overall, it’s been a successful period for the Tackling Antisemitism in Sport project, and we’re excited to continue building on this momentum throughout the year.
