Preparing for Maccabiah: Team Trials and meaningful moments on our path to Israel

As we approach the final stages of trials for the upcoming Maccabiah Games in Israel, set for July 2025, preparations are progressing smoothly. Team sport trials are nearly complete, and we anticipate starting the delegation selection process by the end of the year.

Our Masters 55+ Football trialists had a full weekend in Leicester, competing in the Home Nationals Tournament. They defeated the 2023 champions and placed second overall, marking a strong start. The trip also included a special Shabbat dinner at the local Chabad, creating a meaningful community experience for the team.

Masters Tennis held its first meet-up this month with an excellent turnout setting a strong foundation for their training.

In Netball, our trialists participated in the My Israel Netball tournament, which kept everyone engaged and fostered a strong sense of community within the team.

Our Junior Female and Male Football teams are nearing final selections, with a record number of applications. We’re excited to potentially field four junior football teams for the first time ever.

In addition to these events, steady progress is underway across several other teams, including Netball, Basketball, Table Tennis, Cricket, Swimming, and Futsal. We’re also thrilled to announce that we expect to send our largest-ever Padel Tennis squad, with an estimated 20-26 athletes.

To mark the anniversary of the October 7th attacks in Israel, we partnered with our Education team to deliver a thoughtful session for the U18 Football triallists, marking the occasion. This session was truly meaningful for the group, offering a moment of reflection within our preparations.

Lastly, we look forward to our first Management Training Workshop next month, marking the first time our entire management team will come together, setting the stage for a successful collaboration leading up to the Games.
