School Sports Tournaments

February saw us host three primary school football tournaments, sponsored by All Aboard Charity Shops. We are delighted to see these tournaments continue to grow each term, with impressive participation rates and strong spectator support. Our girls' football tournament saw a 63% increase in teams and players, demonstrating the rising interest in the sport. Compared to the same tournaments held in the winter term, player numbers in the spring term increased by 35%. Additionally, we hosted one more tournament in the spring term than in the autumn term, further contributing to this growth. Spectator numbers also rose significantly, with a 44% increase in attendance at our school tournaments.
The three tournaments we hosted this month were:
Year 5 & 6 Boys’ Football – Winners: Sinai Red
Year 4 Boys’ Football – Winners: Morasha Red
Year 4 Girls’ Football – Winners: Akiva Red
Sport Forums
We are also launching a brand-new Professionals in Sport Committee, with the first meeting scheduled for early March. The formation of this committee will help us drive participation, encourage gr
owth, and develop innovative ideas to increase community access to a variety of sports across the country.
Our second recently launched forum is the Grassroots Clubs and Affiliations Forum, which provides a platform for our affiliated clubs to discuss and share knowledge on all aspects of their work. Our second meeting will focus on grassroots community events across different sports. At present, we have seven active clubs and associations taking part.
Community Sport
During the half-term period, we worked closely with the Streetwise and Education teams to deliver high-quality sessions at our Hands-On Events. At Jewish Care in Stanmore, three leadership participants led light physical activities for nine members, following planning sessions facilitated by our sports department.

On Sunday 23rd February, we hosted our second Maccabi GB Community Event of the year – the Maccabi GB 3x3 Community Basketball Tournament. This event, run in partnership with the grassroots Maccabi GB Basketball Club and RISE 3x3 Basketball, welcomed 32 players competing in 9 teams. The Under-18 competition was won by the trio of Oz Simani, Jonathan Damon and Avraham Sassooni, while the open tournament was won by the Wizards.
