Jewish Blind and Disabled
Jewish Blind & Disabled (JBD) provides adults with physical disabilities or vision impairment with accessible housing and support so that they lead the best life they can, enabling independence, dignity and choice. This is achieved through our specially adapted mobility apartments or within their own home in the wider community.
Our seven developments of mobility apartments situated across NE London, NW London and Hertfordshire currently house 360 tenants. 24/7 onsite House Managers, together with alarm systems installed in each flat and throughout the communal areas in each building provide additional peace of mind to tenants and their families in case of an emergency.
Our buildings are unique supportive communities. We encourage tenants to play an active role, organising events and outings while celebrating life together, often resulting in the start of long-lasting friendships.
Outside of our developments, we are expanding our outreach services to support members of the wider community. The Independent Living Advisory Service, an Occupational Therapist led service, offers people living with physical disabilities or vision impairment advice and recommendations that enables them to maintain their much-prized independence in their own home. We also run peer support groups for people with sight loss and Multiple Sclerosis and visit schools to educate students about living with a disability.
